KELI-101 is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of placental-derived mesenchymal cells (MSCs), developed by Kelifarma. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1b/2 clinical trials for the preemptive treatment of patients at high risk for acute kidney injury (AKI) following cardiac surgery. The therapy aims to prevent the progression of AKI to chronic kidney disease (CKD) by leveraging the immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative properties of mesenchymal stem cells. These cells are thought to mitigate the inflammatory response and promote tissue repair in the kidneys following ischemia-reperfusion injury associated with major cardiac procedures.
