Keluoxin

Keluoxin is a Chinese patent medicine formulated as an oral capsule and used primarily for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and diabetic nephropathy. It is composed of six natural herbs based on traditional Chinese medicine principles to invigorate qi and nourish yin, activate blood circulation, and eliminate blood stasis. Mechanistic studies suggest that Keluoxin exerts its effects by regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, improving renal hemodynamics, reducing proteinuria (urinry albumin excretion), protecting podocytes via enhanced autophagy and reduced injury, inhibiting inflammatory responses in the kidney (including modulation of eNOS/NOX4/NF-κB pathways), reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 overexpression while increasing matrix metalloprotein-9 expression in renal tissue. Clinical trials have shown that it can reduce proteinuria and improve estimated glomerular filtration rate when used alone or in combination with Western medicines such as angiotensin receptor blockers[1][2][5][7][10].
