Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kemodoxa is a liposomal formulation of doxorubicin hydrochloride developed and manufactured by Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV). As a cytotoxic chemotherapy agent, it functions by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting the enzyme DNA topoisomerase II, which prevents DNA replication and transcription in rapidly dividing cancer cells. The liposomal drug delivery system (NDDS) is designed to modify the drug's pharmacokinetic profile, extending circulation time and potentially reducing systemic toxicities, such as cardiotoxicity, compared to conventional doxorubicin formulations. Kemodoxa is available as a non-pegylated, long-circulating liposomal composition for intravenous administration and is indicated for various oncologic conditions.
