Kenaiteinib (MD-001) is an orally bioavailable small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Developed by Jiangsu Maidu Pharmaceutical Research and Development, it is specifically designed to inhibit EGFR mutations associated with resistance and poor prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including the T790M gatekeeper mutation and exon 20 insertion mutations. These mutations often render tumors resistant to first- and second-generation EGFR TKIs. Kenaiteinib is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China for patients with advanced NSCLC who have progressed on prior therapies.
