Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Keplat is a topical transdermal patch containing ketoprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis of the knee and other localized musculoskeletal disorders. Developed using specialized adhesive technology, the patch provides sustained delivery of ketoprofen through the skin to the underlying tissues, achieving high local concentrations while maintaining low systemic levels to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal and renal adverse effects. Ketoprofen exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby blocking the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins.
