Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kerasal is a brand name for several over-the-counter topical products primarily formulated to treat rough, scaly skin conditions such as warts, calluses, keratosis, psoriasis, and dry or cracked feet. The main formulation contains salicylic acid (a keratolytic agent that promotes the shedding of the outer layer of skin) and urea (an emollient that moisturizes and softens the skin). Some Kerasal products also include other ingredients like propylene glycol and lactic acid for nail repair or petrolatum for intensive foot repair. These formulations work by exfoliating dead skin cells while hydrating deeper layers to restore healthy appearance. Kerasal is not an antifungal drug but can improve the appearance of nails damaged by fungus or other causes[1][3][9][10].
