KEROL ZX is a topical keratolytic product containing 50% urea, developed by PharmaDerm, a division of Nycomed US. It is indicated for the debridement and promotion of normal healing of hyperkeratotic surface lesions, specifically for the treatment of dry skin and damaged nails associated with conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and keratosis. The formulation utilizes a vehicle containing zinc undecylate and lactic acid to gently dissolve the intercellular matrix of the skin and nail plate, facilitating the non-surgical removal of damaged fingernails or toenails and softening rough skin. Launched in 2008, the product was available as a prefilled applicator or nail film suspension, though the brand has since been discontinued in the United States.
