KerraCel

KerraCel is a gelling fiber wound dressing designed for the management of moderate to heavily exuding chronic and acute wounds. Developed by Crawford Healthcare (now part of 3M), the dressing is composed of 100% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) fibers. Upon contact with wound exudate, these fibers transform into a clear, cohesive gel that locks in fluid and harmful components such as bacteria and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). This gelling action helps maintain a moist wound healing environment, supports autolytic debridement, and conforms to the wound bed to minimize dead space where bacteria can proliferate. It is primarily indicated for pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and surgical wounds.
