Kestead XT

Kestead XT is a renal nutrition supplement developed by Steadfast Medishield for the conservative management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages II, III, and IV. It is a combination product containing alpha-ketoanalogues of essential amino acids and specific essential amino acids. The supplement is designed to be used in conjunction with a protein-restricted diet to help reduce the accumulation of nitrogenous waste products. Its mechanism of action involves the transamination of nitrogen from non-essential amino acids to the ketoanalogues, converting them into their corresponding essential amino acids. This process effectively recycles nitrogen, thereby reducing the urea load on the kidneys, alleviating uremic symptoms, and helping to preserve residual renal function while maintaining the patient's nutritional status during the pre-dialysis period.
