Overview
Kesuting Syrup is an orally administered, Chinese registered Miao herbal medicine manufactured by Guizhou Bailing Group Pharmaceutical. It is a fixed traditional herbal preparation containing nine botanical ingredients: *Reineckea carnea*, Solomonseal rhizome, *Disporum cantoniense*, Platycodon root, *Saxifraga stolonifera*, loquat leaf, ephedra herb, mulberry root bark, and opium poppy capsule. It has been approved in China since 2002 for cough, dry throat, sputum production, and wheezing associated with the common cold or chronic bronchitis. The product was subsequently evaluated as an adjunct to conventional care for mild COVID-19; published exploratory work proposed antiviral and immunomodulatory activity, including a possible contribution of rutin through regulation of interferon gamma, but it does not have a defined single molecular target.
