Overview

Ketamine is a racemic arylcyclohexylamine **dissociative anesthetic** and non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist. In the Field Trip Health ketamine-assisted psychotherapy program, ketamine was administered alongside structured psychotherapy rather than as a new proprietary ketamine formulation; the retrospective registered study evaluated real-world changes in depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic-stress outcomes following guided ketamine sessions and psychotherapy visits. Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic, while its use in these psychiatric conditions is generally off-label for racemic ketamine.
