Overview

ketamine + midazolam is a combination therapy being evaluated by Inonu University for its efficacy in reducing postpartum depression and managing postoperative pain in patients undergoing Cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Ketamine acts as a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist, providing rapid antidepressant and analgesic effects. Midazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine, acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor and is included in the regimen to provide sedation and mitigate potential psychomimetic side effects associated with ketamine, such as hallucinations and delirium.
