Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KetaMist is a proprietary, patient-controlled, and needle-free ketamine delivery platform developed for the treatment of treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and other neuropsychiatric and chronic pain conditions. Developed by Dr. Curtis W. Cassidy of Cassidy Psychiatry and later co-developed in collaboration with PharmaTher Holdings, KetaMist utilizes a nebulizer system to deliver racemic ketamine via inhalation. This method allows for personalized, real-time dose adjustments and patient-controlled administration under medical supervision, offering a non-invasive and cost-effective alternative to traditional intravenous infusions or nasal sprays. Ketamine acts primarily as a non-competitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, enhancing glutamate signaling and promoting neuroplasticity to provide rapid antidepressant and analgesic effects.
