Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Keteling is an oral combination medication manufactured by Jiangxi Hengkang Pharmaceutical, primarily used for the treatment of cough, asthma, and chronic bronchitis. The formulation typically consists of a botanical extract derived from *Ficus microcarpa* (Small-leaved Banyan) and the small molecule chlorpheniramine maleate. The *Ficus microcarpa* extract provides antitussive and expectorant effects, helping to eliminate phlegm and soothe the respiratory tract. Chlorpheniramine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine, acts as a Histamine H1 receptor antagonist to reduce allergic responses, inflammation, and excessive secretions in the airways. This combination is a well-established therapy in China for symptomatic relief of respiratory distress associated with chronic inflammatory lung conditions.
