Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Keto Gold is a topical antifungal formulation developed and manufactured by Med Manor Organics. Its primary active ingredient is ketoconazole (typically 2% w/w), a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent. Keto Gold is primarily formulated as a medicated soap (Keto Gold Soap or Keto Gold Premium Soap) and is also available as a cream. It is indicated for the treatment and management of various fungal skin infections, including tinea infections (such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch), seborrheic dermatitis, and dandruff. Ketoconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase (encoded by the ERG11 gene), which is essential for the biosynthesis of ergosterol. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of methylated sterol precursors disrupt the structure and function of the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased permeability, leakage of essential intracellular components, and cell death. The formulation is enriched with moisturizing and soothing agents such as glycerin, kokum butter, and olive oil to prevent skin dryness and irritation during treatment.
