Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ketur (ketoanalogues and essential amino acids) is a specialized nutritional supplement used in the conservative management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients following a low-protein diet. It contains a balanced mixture of nitrogen-free ketoanalogues of essential amino acids (as calcium salts) and essential amino acids. Following oral administration, these ketoanalogues are transaminated into their corresponding essential amino acids by utilizing nitrogen from non-essential amino acids, thereby reducing the formation of urea and other nitrogenous waste products. This metabolic recycling helps maintain nutritional status, prevent protein-energy wasting, and slow the progression of renal decline, delaying the need for dialysis.
