Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ketoconazole Cream, marketed under brand names such as Jintaoning, is an antifungal medication used topically to treat various fungal skin infections. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase, which is essential for the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting ergosterol synthesis, ketoconazole compromises the structural integrity and function of the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. It is indicated for conditions such as tinea corporis, tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea versicolor, and cutaneous candidiasis.
