Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ketometa is an approved fixed-dose combination drug developed by Howards Pharma, primarily used for the treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions. It combines **ketoprofen**, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), with **metaxalone**, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Ketoprofen provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Metaxalone complements this by alleviating muscle spasms, likely through general depression of the central nervous system. This dual-action approach is designed to address both the inflammatory and spasmodic components of acute musculoskeletal pain.
