Overview

Ketoprofen + fluconazole is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as an analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis involved in pain, fever, and inflammation. Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase (CYP51), impairing ergosterol synthesis essential for fungal cell membrane integrity. This combination may be used when both antifungal therapy and NSAID effects are required; however, co-administration can lead to pharmacokinetic interactions—fluconazole can decrease the metabolism of ketoprofen via CYP inhibition, potentially increasing ketoprofen plasma levels and risk of adverse effects such as hyperkalemia or gastrointestinal toxicity[1][2][6]. Both agents are approved individually but there is no evidence this specific combination has unique brand names or widespread clinical use as a fixed-dose product.
