Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ketoprofen + ibuprofen (Abiogen) is a combination pharmaceutical product developed as an over-the-counter (OTC) or generic nasal spray for the management of pain and inflammation. It contains two non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) from the propionic acid derivative family: ketoprofen and ibuprofen. Both active ingredients function by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2. This inhibition prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, which are key lipid mediators that promote pain, fever, and the inflammatory response. The intranasal delivery route is designed to provide rapid therapeutic onset and potentially localized relief while bypassing gastrointestinal absorption and first-pass hepatic metabolism.
