Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mlobe-KT Eye Drop is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ketorolac tromethamine (0.4% w/v) and the broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin hydrochloride (0.5% w/v). Developed by Sapient Laboratories, it is indicated for the treatment and prevention of bacterial eye infections (such as bacterial conjunctivitis) and the reduction of associated ocular pain, swelling, and inflammation, particularly following ophthalmic surgeries like cataract or corneal refractive surgery. Moxifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication and transcription. Ketorolac provides anti-inflammatory and analgesic relief by non-selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation.
