ketorolac trometamol + carboxymethylcellulose

This is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing ketorolac trometamol (also known as ketorolac tromethamine), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and carboxymethylcellulose sodium, an ocular lubricant. The formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation following cataract surgery. Ketorolac acts by inhibiting prostaglandin biosynthesis through reversible inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing inflammation and pain. Carboxymethylcellulose serves as a demulcent that lubricates the ocular surface, enhances corneal epithelial healing, prolongs drug residence time on the eye, and reduces irritation or dryness[2][4][5][10]. The combination improves ocular penetration of ketorolac compared to previous formulations without CMC[4].
