Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zakfan Plus is a fixed-dose combination medication developed by Zakfas Pharmaceutical, primarily indicated for the management of bronchial asthma and other conditions involving reversible airways obstruction. It contains two active ingredients: ketotifen and salbutamol. Ketotifen is a mast cell stabilizer and a potent H1-antihistamine that prevents the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and leukotrienes, thereby providing prophylactic protection against allergic triggers. Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a bronchodilator by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways. Together, these components provide both preventative control and symptomatic relief of bronchospasm.
