Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ketotifen + montelukast is a combination medication used primarily for respiratory conditions. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that prevents leukotrienes from binding to receptors in airways, reducing inflammation, mucus secretion, and airway hyperresponsiveness. Ketotifen is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist and mast cell stabilizer that inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators. Together, they provide complementary mechanisms to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), particularly in cases with airway hyperresponsiveness.
