Ketotifen hydrogen fumarate is a second-generation H1-antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. It exerts its therapeutic effect through a multi-pronged mechanism: it acts as a potent, non-competitive antagonist at histamine H1 receptors, stabilizes mast cells to prevent the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and leukotrienes, and inhibits the chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils.
