Overview

Kevetrin is a water-soluble small molecule anti-cancer agent that acts as an activator of the tumor suppressor protein p53. By increasing levels of activated p53 and expression of downstream targets such as p21 and PUMA, Kevetrin induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. It has demonstrated activity against both wild-type and mutant forms of p53, making it potentially effective in drug-resistant cancers with mutated p53. Kevetrin has been studied in Phase 1 clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, showing good tolerability and evidence of pharmacodynamic activity (p21 induction). It is also being developed for ovarian cancer (Phase 2a) and has received orphan drug designation from the FDA for ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, and childhood retinoblastoma. The developer is Innovation Pharmaceuticals (formerly Cellceutix), which continues to advance both intravenous and oral formulations[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
