Overview
Kezuo Yindong gel (克痤隐酮凝胶) is a topical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combination gel developed and manufactured by companies including Anhui Anke Biotechnology and Hefei Lifang Pharmaceutical. It is approved in China as an over-the-counter (OTC) dermatology product for the treatment of acne, including blackheads, whiteheads (comedones), and pustular acne. The gel is formulated with a combination of active ingredients: danshenone powder (tanshinone, a natural compound extracted from *Salvia miltiorrhiza*), trimethoprim, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E. Kezuo Yindong gel works through a multi-targeted mechanism: danshenone inhibits sebaceous gland secretion and exerts anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects; trimethoprim acts as a bacterial dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) inhibitor to suppress the growth of *Cutibacterium acnes*; Vitamin A regulates epithelial cell keratinization to prevent comedone formation; and Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant to protect lipids from peroxidation and synergize with Vitamin A.
