Overview

KFD1 is a recombinant flagellin protein variant derived from E. coli K12 strain that functions as a vaccine adjuvant. It is designed to enhance mucosal immunity when administered with vaccine antigens. In clinical studies, it has been tested as an adjuvant for SARS-CoV-2 subunit mucosal vaccines at various dosages. Research has shown that when combined with RSV phosphoprotein (as P-KFD1), intranasal immunization induces Th1 and Th17 responses that protect against RSV infection in mice without vaccine-enhanced disease.
