KH906 is a recombinant human vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor fusion protein developed as a topical treatment for ocular neovascularization, specifically corneal neovascularization. It acts by binding to VEGF, thereby inhibiting its activity and reducing abnormal blood vessel growth in the cornea. Preclinical studies have shown that topical administration of KH906 significantly inhibits alkali burn-induced corneal neovascularization in animal models without affecting corneal epithelial healing. The drug is being developed by Chengdu Kanghong Biotechnology and has completed phase 1 clinical trials for this indication[1][2][3][4].
