*Khaya senegalensis* is a botanical extract derived from the African Mahogany tree, serving as the active ingredient in Khapregesic®. Developed by Bioactive Natural Health Pty Ltd, it is marketed under the brand 'Hey Sister!' for the management of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and associated psychological distress. Mechanistically, it is characterized as a Biogenic Inflammation Modulator (BIMod), exerting its effects through selective COX-2 inhibition, potent antioxidant activity, and microbiome modulation via natural prebiotic polysaccharides. It is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) and has been evaluated in a gold-standard randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (ACTRN12624000731594p) demonstrating significant efficacy in reducing menstrual distress and pain.
