Overview

KHK2898 is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Kyowa Kirin targeting CD98 (also known as SLC3A2) and specifically inhibiting the L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1, SLC7A5). Its mechanism of action involves blocking the function of LAT1, thereby interfering with amino acid transport essential for tumor cell growth and survival. Additionally, it exerts antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) effects. The drug was investigated for use in advanced solid tumors but development was discontinued after phase 1 clinical trials.
