KHK6640 is a novel humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically targets amyloid beta oligomers, which are believed to play a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. By binding selectively to pathological aggregates of amyloid beta peptide, KHK6640 is designed to inhibit the progression of Alzheimer's disease by neutralizing toxic oligomeric forms and potentially reducing their neurotoxic effects. Preclinical studies demonstrated high potency and efficacy for cognitive improvement in rodent models. Clinical trials have shown that KHK6640 has a favorable safety profile and dose-dependent pharmacokinetics when administered intravenously or subcutaneously in patients with prodromal or mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease[2][3][4]. The drug was developed through collaboration between Kyowa Kirin and OncoTherapy Science, with initial rights obtained from Immunas Pharma.
