KID24 is an ADAM9-specific monoclonal antibody developed by KaloBios Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of solid tumors. It targets the catalytic domain of ADAM9 (Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 9), a membrane-anchored metalloprotease that is frequently overexpressed in various cancers and plays a role in tumor aggressiveness, progression, and metastasis. In preclinical models, KID24 demonstrated the ability to inhibit the proteolytic activity of ADAM9, leading to significant tumor growth inhibition in lung carcinoma and Merkel cell carcinoma xenografts, as well as a reduction in the size and number of metastatic lesions. Despite promising preclinical data presented at major cancer research conferences in 2007 and 2008, the candidate did not progress into clinical development.
