Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kids n Pen is a pediatric oral syrup formulation of ibuprofen developed and marketed by Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical in South Korea. Launched in 2015 as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication, it is specifically indicated for the relief of pain and the reduction of fever in children. As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), its active ingredient, ibuprofen, works by non-selectively inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2. This inhibition prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, which are key lipid mediators involved in the signaling of inflammation, pain, and the elevation of body temperature. The syrup formulation is designed to provide a palatable and easily measurable dosage form for infants and young children.
