KIF20A peptide vaccine is a cancer immunotherapy targeting the tumor-associated antigen KIF20A (kinesin family member 20A), a protein highly expressed in several cancers including pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma but at low levels in normal tissues. The vaccine consists of an epitope peptide derived from KIF20A, designed to induce cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses against tumor cells expressing this antigen. Clinical trials have evaluated both single-peptide formulations (such as OCV-105) and multi-peptide cocktails (such as OCV-C01, which also targets VEGFR1 and VEGFR2). The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells presenting the KIF20A antigen via HLA-A*24:02 restriction. Early-phase clinical studies have shown induction of IFN-γ-producing T cells and disease stabilization in some patients with advanced pancreatic cancer or biliary tract cancers[1][3][4][5][8].
