KIN001

KIN001 is an orally available combination therapy comprising pamapimod, a selective inhibitor of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and pioglitazone, an agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ). Developed by Kinarus Therapeutics (acquired by Curatis), the combination is designed to provide synergistic anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects. Pamapimod inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6, while pioglitazone modulates gene expression involved in glucose and lipid metabolism as well as inflammation. KIN001 has been investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of COVID-19 (KINFAST and KINETIC studies) and is being developed for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other orphan fibrotic diseases.
