KIOM-ICI-1 is an investigational immuno-oncology drug candidate developed by the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM). It is a small molecule herbal medicine derived from an extract of unripe *Rubus coreanus Miquel* (Korean blackberry). The drug acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by blocking the interaction between Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). This blockade prevents the suppression of T-cell activity, thereby enhancing T-cell-mediated antitumor immunity. KIOM-ICI-1 is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of colorectal cancer, often in combination with standard chemotherapy agents like oxaliplatin to improve therapeutic efficacy and overcome the limitations of current immune checkpoint inhibitor monotherapies.
