KIRIM-KONGO-VAX is a candidate vaccine developed for the prevention of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), a severe tick-borne viral disease caused by the CCHF virus, which belongs to the Nairovirus genus in the Bunyaviridae family. The vaccine entered phase I clinical trials between December 2014 and June 2017, but as of now, no results have been published regarding its efficacy or safety. The specific mechanism of action has not been publicly detailed; however, CCHF vaccines under development typically use viral vectors or inactivated virus platforms to induce immune responses targeting key viral proteins such as nucleoprotein (NP) or glycoproteins (GPC).
