KITAIbodies is a preclinical-stage bispecific antibody candidate developed by Mesenkia Therapeutics, specifically designed for the treatment of glioblastoma. The molecule utilizes a modular nanobody or single-domain antibody format derived from alpaca antibodies. Its primary mechanism of action involves targeting the Herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM, also known as TNFRSF14) to disrupt two critical signaling pathways: the APRIL-HVEM-NFκB axis, which drives the growth of glioblastoma cancer stem cells, and the BTLA-HVEM axis, which facilitates immune suppression within the tumor microenvironment. In August 2026, Mesenkia announced a research collaboration with BioArctic AB to integrate KITAIbodies with BioArctic's BrainTransporter™ technology, aimed at improving the delivery of the therapeutic across the blood-brain barrier.
