KITE-197 is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy being developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T cells, genetically engineering them to express a CAR targeting the CD19 antigen on B cells, and then re-infusing them into the patient. Upon administration, these modified T cells specifically recognize and kill tumor cells expressing CD19, resulting in a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response and tumor cell lysis. KITE-197 uses a rapid three-day manufacturing process designed to preserve juvenile (stem-like) properties of the harvested T cells, potentially improving product uniformity and efficacy. The construct used in KITE-197 is similar to that of Yescarta (axicabtagene ciloleucel), but with this accelerated production method. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma[1][2][4][5][6].
