Overview

KITE-718 is an investigational autologous T-cell receptor (TCR)-based cell therapy developed by Kite Pharma (a subsidiary of Gilead Sciences) for the treatment of solid tumors. The therapy involves engineering a patient's own T cells to express a specific TCR that targets the cancer antigens MAGE-A3 and MAGE-A6, which are expressed in various solid tumors. Upon infusion, these modified lymphocytes recognize and kill tumor cells presenting these antigens in the context of HLA-DPB1*04:01. The approach builds on proof-of-concept work from the National Cancer Institute and incorporates next-generation manufacturing technologies to optimize efficacy and safety. KITE-718 was evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for advanced cancers but development has been discontinued[1][2][4][5].
