Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KJ-02 is an allogeneic, off-the-shelf, gene-engineered cell therapy consisting of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (iPSC-derived iMSCs) transduced to express interleukin-10 (IL-10) and C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). Developed by Kiji Therapeutics (which announced an intention to merge with REGiMMUNE in late 2024 to form REGiMMUNE/Kiji TX), KJ-02 is designed to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, primarily inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), psoriasis, and central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The dual-gene engineering platform utilizes IL-10 to provide synergistic immunomodulatory activity (promoting regulatory T and B cells, and shifting macrophages from a pro-inflammatory M1 to an anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype) and CXCR4 to promote cellular homing to sites of active disease. KJ-02 is currently in IND-enabling preclinical development.
