Overview

KJ-C2527 is an investigational allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Kaixing Life Technology, a subsidiary of CarsGen Therapeutics. It is designed to target Claudin18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein that is frequently overexpressed in gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancers while maintaining restricted expression in normal tissues. As an allogeneic or "off-the-shelf" therapy, KJ-C2527 is derived from healthy donor T cells rather than the patient's own cells, which potentially allows for more rapid treatment delivery and reduced manufacturing costs compared to autologous CAR-T therapies. The therapy involves engineering these donor T cells to express a CAR specific to CLDN18.2, enabling them to recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing the antigen. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of gastric cancer.
