KJ-C2529 is a small molecule inhibitor designed to disrupt the protein-protein interaction between the MYC oncoprotein and its obligate dimerization partner, MAX. MYC is a transcription factor that is frequently overexpressed or dysregulated in a wide variety of human cancers, where it drives cell proliferation, metabolism, and survival. By binding to the MYC:MAX heterodimer, KJ-C2529 prevents the complex from associating with DNA E-box sequences, effectively silencing MYC-dependent gene expression. Developed at The Scripps Research Institute, this compound serves as a chemical probe to study MYC biology and represents a potential therapeutic strategy for MYC-driven malignancies, such as Burkitt lymphoma and various solid tumors.
