KK-4277 is a monoclonal antibody drug candidate developed for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, primarily systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). It acts as an antagonist of protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type S (PTPRS), targeting plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) to suppress the overproduction of interferon alpha (IFNα) without inducing cytotoxicity in pDCs. This mechanism aims to modulate immune system overactivation characteristic of SLE. The drug is being developed by Kyowa Kirin and has reached Phase 1 clinical trials in Japan and South Korea[1][2][3][4][7].
