Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**KK-R002** is an investigational intravenous fixed-dose antibacterial combination of **cefazolin sodium** and **probenecid sodium** being developed by Anhui Kangzheng Kangren Pharmaceutical and Anhui Kangzheng Kangyuan Pharmaceutical for community-acquired bacterial pneumonia and other susceptible-bacteria respiratory tract infections. Cefazolin is a first-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis through penicillin-binding proteins, while probenecid inhibits renal organic-anion transporters to reduce renal tubular secretion of cefazolin and potentially prolong systemic cefazolin exposure. A randomized, double-blind Phase 1 study in healthy adults evaluated single- and multiple-dose safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, formulation-ratio pharmacokinetics, and the pharmacokinetic interaction between the two components.
