Overview

KL001 is a small molecule drug that functions as a stabilizer of cryptochrome (CRY) proteins, specifically CRY1 and CRY2, which are key components of the mammalian circadian clock. By modulating CRY activity, KL001 influences the transcriptional-translational feedback loops that govern circadian rhythms. This action has shown therapeutic potential in various conditions, including severe hemophilia B, psoriasis, glioblastoma, acetaminophen-induced liver injury, and pigmentary disorders, by affecting processes such as keratinocyte proliferation, inflammation, tumor microenvironment, cellular metabolism, and melanogenesis. It has also been investigated for its ability to modulate circadian rhythms in brain microvasculature and to improve chronotherapy strategies.
