Klarity-C

Klarity-C is a compounded ophthalmic emulsion developed by ImprimisRx for the treatment of dry eye disease. It combines the active ingredient cyclosporine A (0.1%), a small molecule immunosuppressant, with chondroitin sulfate, which serves as a lubricant and part of the emulsion vehicle. Cyclosporine A functions as a calcineurin inhibitor, preventing the activation of T lymphocytes and the subsequent release of proinflammatory mediators that contribute to ocular surface inflammation. The formulation also includes additional lubricants such as dextran, glycerol, and hypromellose (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose). It is intended for twice-daily topical administration to reduce the signs and symptoms of dry eye in adult patients. As a compounded medication, Klarity-C has not been formally approved by the FDA for safety and efficacy.
