Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Klebsiella phage JLBP1001 (JLBP1001) is a novel lytic bacteriophage belonging to the *Webervirus* genus of the *Drexlerviridae* family. It was isolated from hospital sewage by researchers at Nanjing University. JLBP1001 specifically targets carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent *Klebsiella pneumoniae* (CR-hvKP) clinical strains, particularly those of the ST218 KL57 capsular type. In preclinical studies using a mouse model of intra-abdominal infection (IAI), treatment with JLBP1001 significantly improved survival rates and reduced bacterial load, demonstrating its potential as a therapeutic agent for multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.
