Overview

The Klebsiella pneumoniae bioconjugate vaccine is a preclinical-stage prophylactic candidate being developed by Omniose to prevent infections caused by the Gram-negative bacterium *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, including multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains. The vaccine is produced using Omniose's proprietary Enzyme-mediated Conjugation (EMC) platform, which utilizes a specialized glycosyltransferase (such as PglB) to site-specifically attach bacterial capsular polysaccharides to carrier proteins within an engineered *E. coli* host. This bioconjugation process is designed to produce more homogenous and immunogenic vaccines compared to traditional chemical conjugation methods, aiming to elicit high titers of opsonophagocytic antibodies against the pathogen's capsule.
